Matt Richards's 85th minute goal game Town a 1-0 victory over Chester and took the Blues through to round four of the FA Cup and a home tie against Swansea City. Jim Magilton's side made heavy weather of beating the League Two team with the game looking destined for extra-time until Richards struck.

Loanee Gary Roberts will make his first home start since joining the Blues when Town face Sheffield Wednesday at Portman Road. Roberts made his full debut in last week's last gasp 1-0 defeat at Burnley.

Town were denied their first non-Saturday win of the season by referee Phil Crossley's controversial late award of a penalty, apparently for a handball by Jason De Vos. Danny Haynes had put the Blues in front three minutes after the break, David Healy equalising via the controversial spotkick.

Town dropped to the bottom of the First Division with a dismal 4-1 defeat at West Bromwich Albion. Two goals in the first 15 minutes, one from former Blue Thomas Gaardsøe, virtually assured the Baggies a win. Richard Naylor got one back for Town at 3-1 but that was scant comfort on another depressing afternoon.

Gary Croft and Manu Thetis are both out to prove their fitness in today'd reserve game at Oxford United. Crof has recovered far more quickly than expected from his gash sustained against Huddersfield whilst Manu is back after an ankle injury cut short the first game of his return from a hamstring problem. If they do well both could find themselves in the side for Saturday's game with Portsmouth. Croft in place of loanee Michael Clegg and Thetis in place of the injured John McGreal.
